My vote is for sport superstitions. I don't know much about that one. I wonder if it goes farther then the whole not changing your socks thing. You could even watch Bull Durnum (sp).
You also might think of phoning the grandma's of your family community and asking them. My mother has some doozies. Like the one that if two or more people are in the bathroom and someone doesn't say "bread and butter" it will rain, or people who have sty's in there eyes peed in the road. I have four sisters and we crack up on these when we get together.

Fed,
I am interested in reading about Feng Shui if that is something you decide to write a post about. I dont think I would ever go as far as to re-decorate my house like some people do but its always interesting to hear how where your couch is in the room can effect you good "Chi."

I think it is so interesting to know everyone's different superstitions. I've heard of the 'jumping over the broom' but never had I heard the 'hanging clothes while you're pregnant'. But, then again, I was always the one to go against a lot of that.

Do you remember hearing the rhyme, "ring around the rosies, pocket full of posies. . .we all fall down"? A couple of years of ago, I actually found out where that originated from.

Maybe, you can find out something about songs and rhymes we knew as kids. The purpose (if any) for those little rhymes, and how it started off as something good/bad and evolved into something total opposite.

Also, have you ever paid attention to the words of 'rock-a-bye baby'? Sounds kind of mean for a lullaby, don't you think? It'll be interesting to find out how that started.

(OK, sorry for the long comment).

Playing tennis in college you wouldn't believe the wierd people did. I was playing a girl whose shock absorber on her racket fell off and she forfeited saying it was a sign. I knew another girl who never wore anything blue while playing because she lost her state championship game in a blue tennis skirt. Personally I didn't do anything too cool. I had a 'lucky' grip, and a 'lucky' necklace, but it was more of just routine and I realize that now. At the time though I did get in a pretty big panic if my grip ripped or I wasn't wearing my necklace. I love hearing people's crazy sport superstitions so that is definitely my vote.
